Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has reportedly tipped Liverpool to win this season’s Premier League title.
Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit two points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the table having played a game more than their rivals.
Pep Guardiola’s men face arguably the more difficult run-in than Liverpool and have to come against fierce rivals United at Old Trafford on April 24.
And according to former Republic of Ireland international Jonathan Walters, Ferguson thinks his former side will get something out of that mouth-watering fixture which will see Liverpool finally end their 29-year title drought.
Walters has claimed that ex-United defender Phil Bardsley was told by Ferguson that he thinks Liverpool would win the title.
“I was chatting with Phil Bardsley and I’m gonna drop a name here, he was sat with Sir Alex Ferguson,” Walters told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast.
“He sat with him and he thinks Liverpool are gonna win it. He thinks Liverpool because he thinks United will get something out of the City game.”
Both Liverpool and City kept pace in their enthralling title race yesterday afternoon.
